Route

Out & back

The adventure

A paved route follows the edge of an unfinished canal toward the Gulf, with surprising rises and broad views over coastal forest and salt marsh. The Withlacoochee Bay Trail is not the completely flat ride its map might suggest; the small climbs make the panorama at the western end feel earned.

This outing combines a curious piece of Florida infrastructure history with a wild coastal finale. Between wooded sections and open marsh overlooks, the changing light and wind can make the ride feel very different on the way back.

ONCE YOU’RE THERE

Start at Felburn Park, join the signed paved Withlacoochee Bay Trail, and travel west toward the bay overlook. Turn around at the western end and return on the same path.

LOCAL INTEL
