The adventure

A remote river stop turns into a short exploration of water, cottonwoods and big eastern Idaho quiet. Walk the Trail Creek recreation area and reach the Blackfoot River from this far-out developed access. A vault toilet serves the recreation site.

Leave the Trail Creek Bridge recreation-site parking, walk to the Blackfoot River, explore the river edge and undeveloped float access, return to your vehicle. There is an undeveloped put-in/take-out for non-motorized boaters. Pack out every bit of trash.

ONCE YOU’RE THERE Arrive at the developed Trail Creek Bridge site after the long backroad approach. Park within the recreation area, walk toward the Blackfoot River and undeveloped put-in/take-out, explore on durable ground, then return to the same parking area.

LOCAL INTEL The final approach uses a long sequence of rural and backcountry roads; fuel up before committing.
