The adventure
Wildcat Mountain rises above the winding Kickapoo River valley, where the Driftless Area folds into a maze of wooded hills and narrow valleys. Old Settlers Trail offers a close-up experience of that terrain, with quiet forest sections and a sense of distance from busy highways.
The park is known for its sweeping valley setting, and a hike here rewards attention to the land’s contours. Seasonal wildflowers, changing leaf color, and occasional openings in the trees turn the walk into a compact portrait of southwestern Wisconsin’s rugged countryside.
ONCE YOU’RE THERE
Enter through the official park entrance, park in the designated trail-access area, and follow the park map to Old Settlers Trail. Complete the signed route and return to your starting lot.
