The adventure
The Oxbow Trail packs an impressive variety of river scenery into a short loop. Under a canopy of twisting oaks, the path leads toward different perspectives on the Withlacoochee River, including places where the water bends around wooded banks.
This is a small adventure with a strong sense of place: mossy trees, river breezes, and occasional glimpses of paddlers moving below. It is especially appealing when you want an atmospheric hike without a long commitment.
ONCE YOU’RE THERE
Use the signed Oxbow Trailhead on East Withlacoochee Trail. Follow the marked loop through the woods and along the river views, then return to the kiosk and parking area.
LOCAL INTEL
The trail sits near Johnson Pond but offers a different, river-focused experience.
