The adventure
Perrot State Park is a place of sweeping river views and steep bluff-country trails. Brady’s Bluff rises above the Mississippi backwaters near the mouth of the Trempealeau River, rewarding hikers with an expansive panorama of islands, water channels, and wooded ridges. The climb is the price of admission, but the scenery at the top makes it one of western Wisconsin’s most memorable hikes.
The bluff also supports fragile hilltop prairie communities that feel surprisingly different from the shaded forest below. As the trail gains height, the river landscape gradually opens and the horizon grows wider. Spring wildflowers and autumn color add their own character, while migrating birds bring activity to the wetlands around the base of the bluffs.
ONCE YOU'RE THERE
Enter from Sullivan Road and use the park map to find the signed Brady’s Bluff trailhead parking. Follow the marked climbing route and designated loop connections; stay off fragile prairie vegetation and return to the lot.
