The adventure
Hike a rugged Black Canyon loop to hot mineral pools hidden above the Colorado River.
The hot spring sits inside a narrow canyon above the Colorado River, reached only after a substantial desert hike. The loop connection includes a fixed ladder of roughly 20 feet. This is not a casual walk to a roadside soak.
THE EXPERIENCE
From the shared White Rock Canyon trailhead, descend the Arizona Hot Spring route through the desert wash and canyon system to the hidden hot pools. Complete the ladder section, experience the spring without putting your head underwater, connect through the Colorado River corridor and return by the White Rock Canyon side of the loop. Finish the full loop.
ONCE YOU’RE THERE
Park in the large shared trailhead lot immediately off US 93 south of Hoover Dam. Follow the Arizona Hot Spring route away from the highway and descend through the wash toward the canyon. The route reaches the hot-spring canyon and its ladder connection before tying into the Colorado River corridor. Complete the loop using White Rock Canyon to return to the same trailhead. Do not enter the route during the annual May 15–September 30 closure or whenever flash-flood or heat conditions make the canyon unsafe.
GOOD TO KNOW
The loop can connect the hot spring canyon with White Rock Canyon and the Colorado River. The trail is closed every year during the hottest part of the season and may close at additional times for dangerous heat.
